Girls Flag Football

Register

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower girls to work together as a team in a fun and safe (non-contact) environment while developing a love of flag football. Our league supports positive values and promotes health, wellness, and self-esteem to inspire and motivate girls to succeed both on and off the field.

We are looking to grow Girls Flag Football in Westfield, provide athletic gear, training for coaches and team building activities. Our league also promotes personal health and continues to enhance the program and overall experience. In recognition of our important role in the community, we will be partnering with local charities that share our mission.

League history

The Westfield PAL Girls Flag Football League rang in our Inaugural Season in September 2022, and had an even more successful 2023 Fall Season with more than 300 girls participating. We are now gearing up for the 2024 Fall Season. We are among the first girls flag football programs in NJ and excited to bring this sport to our town. Interest in girls flag football is exploding worldwide, and it is now an official Olympic sport for 2028. Nike and the NY Jets are sponsoring Girls High School Flag Football throughout NY and NJ, and in the Spring of 2024, Westfield High School Girls will be playing its 2nd season in the Big Central Conference!

Volunteer, Donation and Sponsorship Opportunities

We have big plans and ideas for the upcoming Westfield PAL Girls Flag Football season and beyond, which can only be achieved through community support and involvement. Parent volunteers and coaches are the backbone of any youth sports program, and we are looking for moms, dads, and teens to volunteer their time to help make the program a huge success. We would like to have at least one female coach on every team.

To further support our mission and enhance the program, we are seeking donations and sponsorships. If interested in volunteer, donation and sponsorship opportunities, please contact Kelly Hantman at [email protected]

"Our daughter felt so incredibly welcomed when she joined the Girls Flag Football league. The entire experience has been extremely rewarding for her, our family and the community. We are beyond impressed with the level of dedication that the league creators, volunteers, coaches and teammates provide to the league. We were unsure at first to join given our daughter didn't have specific flag football experience, but she has learned so much, is thoroughly encouraged and is so supported by the entire team. We plan to continue in the years ahead!"

“Coaching girls flag football has been an absolute joy for me. Witnessing their growth,
determination, and teamwork on the field is incredibly rewarding. I couldn’t imagine a more
fulfilling way to spend my time.”

“I love playing on the Flag Football league. It is one of the best experiences I've ever
had. I love the excitement of learning new plays and working together to win and being
there when we don’t. I’ve met so many new friends.”

"Flag football has taught me so much! It helped me learn the importance of a team and
teamwork. It helped build my self-esteem because I had lot because people around me
that motivated me and uplifted me when I was down on myself! I even had the chance
to meet people I wouldn't normally meet and become friends with them! I love flag
football so much now that if I see a random flag I want to pull it because it reminds me
of all the joyful memories I had in flag when I was playing with my friends! I'm so happy I
get to stay active and do something I love doing at the same time!  I can't wait to play
again this year!"

“I've been involved in coaching youth sports in Westfield for over 10 years. PAL Flag Football is my favorite by far! If feels like the entire town of Westfield is at Tamaques Park on a Saturday morning to support their kids having fun! It's hard to beat! I love to be with my girls. Anything I can do help them discover new things and have new experiences.”

Parent/Coach

“The best part of flag football is how it brings the community together, There is nothing better than standing on the hill at Tamaques Park and seeing a sea of Westfield families all cheering on their child’s team and spending time together.”
